I am a huge fan of the experimental band Animal Collective, specially the Merriweather Post Pavilion album. So when i saw the headlines over at Motionographer I had to check it out, and I am glad I did.
This is a great representation of what happens when shapes, color, music and an illustrator mind mix. This video was created by Ori Toor for a final project at the Shenkar School of Engineering and Design – Illustration department.

Starting April 9th, Berlin will be taken over by the Pictoplasma Berlin Festival for the entire weekend. The Pictoplasma Festival is nothing more than a mind-blowing event full of contemporary character design, art, screenings, lectures and presentations. Pictoplasma gathers the top talent in character design, art and motion into one event.
“Whether illustration, animation, graphic design, urban vinyl, street or fine art – the emphasis is not on the limits of style or format, but on the shared dedication to explore character-driven aesthetics. The lively exchange between the various disciplines highlights the importance of characters in contemporary visual culture.”
Some of the speakers will be: Nina Braun, Fluorescent Hill, Jeremy Dower, MyMo, Luke Ramsey, Ville Savimaa, Peter de Sève, Ree Treweek and more…
I was lucky enough to attend the Pictoplasma NYC, 2008 which was nothing but an amazing time. From the screenings, to the talks, to the parties it was a great experience full of inspiration and great people. So if you are in Berlin or close to it, I highly recommend going.

AIR MUSIC VIDEO SING SANG SONG from MATHEMATIC SAS on Vimeo.
This video is an amazing motion piece created by Mathematic Studio from Paris, France. Being an AIR fan, I really enjoyed the song but was very impressed by the visuals. The story was very interesting and full of unexpected surprises.

As you have noticed on my previews posts, I am a big fan of the work made by Peppermelon.tv in Argentina.
But now that admiration has been raised by this amazing PSA for MTV. In particular the lighting and colors used in this piece could not have been better.

From Johnny Kelly comes a great stop motion animation made with papercraft and 2-D illutrations. Funded by Adobe, this 2 minute video illustrates the adventurous journey of an apple seed traveling through the different cycles of its life.

Check out this really fresh piece for Nike by a favorite James Jarvis and Richard Kenworthy. Besides the amazing work of JJ, I was very impressed by the smoothness of the animation and the music.
