So Gorillaz release Plastic Beach and then DFA’s Free Energy release Stuck on Nothing on the same day. Good day!

I have been addicted to Free Energy for the past month or so, so I am stoked about this release specially because its a whopping $5.99 for the full album on itunes! “Boring jobs, troubled relationships, rush hour traffic… such mundane prisons are no match for the liberating power of a fantastic pop song. Think of Stuck On Nothing as one giant stack of “Get Out Of Jail Free” cards. ”

Make sure to download the Ph7labs Mixcast – Volume 1 which features music by Free Energy!

… Also here is one of my favorite tracks from the album

So its three hours before the release of Gorillaz Plastic Beach, and I found some scans of the new artwork for the deluxe edition. Jamie Hewlett, the artist behind the amazing Gorillaz characters and scenes has never failed to impress me.

Also I was able to find a sample and a video of the Stylo song featuring Mos Def & Bobby Womack and I guess Bruce Willis (haha awesome)

What! Get an early listen to the upcoming Gorillaz album “Plastic Beach” before the release date March 9, 2010 on NPR. I can’t believe it’s already been five years since they’re latest release “Demon Days”. As you know i am a huge Gorillaz and Jamie Hewlett fan.

I have been following the Gorillaz since the very beginning 99 or 00s, they’re music and artwork have been a great influence in my work. In fact I was introduced to vinyl toys, for the first time when Kidrobot released the first edition of the Gorillaz characters. (2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel)

Plastic Beach is definitely an interesting listen, the new album has collab work from Snoop Dogg, Bobby Womack, Lou Reed, Mos Def, Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys, Little Dragon, The Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music, and many more.

Give it a listen here

Hey everyone, it’s been a while since my last post… I am going to try from now on to post more often than usual and I have decided to also start sharing more music with you, which is something that I have been really into my whole life.

Lately I have been hearing lots of great new music, and have been specially addicted to a new track from Caribou called “Odessa” which will be part of the upcoming album “Swim”. Like many people have pointed out Dan Snaith’s voice does sound a lot like Erlend Oye on this track. Swim is due to be out April 20th so make sure to mark your calendars.

Lately, I am becoming more and more involved with electronic music, due to the fact that rock bands aren’t as good as they used to. Now bands all sound the same to me. And every once in a while, some band pops up with one good song but with a terrible album.

In any case… I found this track called “The Splendour” by Pantha Du Prince and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. The Album which will be released on February 8th sounds very promising. “Black Noise includes collaborations with Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear of Animal Collective and Tyler Pope of !!! and LCD Soundsystem. Prepared instruments played on location in Swiss by Joachim Schütz, Stephan Abry and Hendrik Weber. ”

Definitely worth a follow, download the mp3 here.
